Former TMC Minister Sujit Bose Arrested By ED In Municipality Recruitment ‘Scam’

The Enforcement Directorate has arrested former West Bengal minister and TMC leader Sujit Bose in connection with a money laundering probe linked to an alleged municipality recruitment scam. The arrest came after a day of questioning, during which officials confronted him with evidence before taking him into custody. The case originates from a CBI FIR filed under Calcutta High Court directions, investigating large-scale irregularities in municipal recruitment across West Bengal. Earlier raids on October 10, 2025, covered 13 locations, including Bose’s office and residence, leading to the seizure of documents and ₹45 lakh in cash. The probe also traces links to the wider recruitment scam involving manipulated OMR sheets and illegal appointments in multiple municipal bodies.
