Kashi, Somnath immortal symbols of Indian civilization: Guv
Varanasi: Governor Anandiben Patel said that the Somnath Swabhiman Parv is a reflection of an unwavering journey spanning 1,000 years, during which the Somnath temple preserved its faith, spiritual energy, and existence despite repeated attacks and conflicts..“Kashi and Somnath are two immortal symbols of Indian civilization, which reflect the pride of spiritual unity, cultural consciousness and Sanatan tradition,” she said while addressing the Somnath Swabhiman Parv event held at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham complex. She said: “The history of Somnath is not one of defeat, but of renaissance, reconstruction and indomitable self-confidence. The true strength of any nation lies in its cultural consciousness, historical memory and spiritual foundation. From the attack of Mahmud Gaznavi in 1026 to the many destructions that followed, attempts were made repeatedly to demolish the temple, but each time it rose again with the same radiance and devotion. Rebuilders like Kumarpala, the kings of Junagadh and Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar proved that it is impossible to erase Sanatan culture.”The governor said that Somnath is a beacon of the nation’s self-respect, while Kashi Vishwanath, where the programme is being held, stands as a symbol of the spiritual unity of Sanatan culture.
She added that Somnath, located on the western seashore, and Kashi, regarded as the spiritual capital of the east, together illuminate the essence of India’s eternal consciousness.Referring to Kashi and Somnath as the immortal voices of Indian civilization, she said that one kept the lamp of faith burning amidst the ocean, while the other delivered the message of knowledge, salvation and spirituality from the banks of the Ganga. The governor said that the true strength of any nation lies in its cultural consciousness, historical memory and spiritual foundation. India’s civilization has given the message of uniting the world through the values of faith, compassion, co-existence, truth and non-violence.
