Watchman arrested for sexually assaulting girl child

Trichy: A 64-year-old watchman employed at an apartment complex in Trichy was arrested on Friday for sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl.The incident reportedly occurred within an apartment building located near Anna Nagar. The accused, identified as V Komatheeswaran, from Theppakulam, was serving as the watchman at the premises.According to information, residents of the apartment used to provide food to Komatheeswaran. On Friday morning, the seven-year-old daughter of one of the residents carried food to him at his security post, where he allegedly committed the sexual assault on her.Upon returning home, the child confided in her mother about what had happened. The mother went to the police and filed a formal complaint.Komatheeswaran was taken into custody later that evening. A case was registered against him at the Srirangam all women police station under Section 9(m) read with Section 10 of the Pocso Act, which pertains to aggravated sexual assault.The accused was presented before a magistrate and subsequently remanded in judicial custody.
