Trichy: Southern Railway has announced special summer trains between Chennai Egmore and Kanyakumari to clear the extra rush during the holiday season, with stoppages at Srirangam and Trichy railway junctions.
According to a release, Train No. 06045 Chennai Egmore–Kanyakumari superfast special will depart from Chennai Egmore at 11.50pm on May 15, 22, 29 and June 5 (Fridays) and reach Kanyakumari at 1pm the following day. In the return direction, Train No. 06046 will leave Kanyakumari at 11.25pm on May 17, 24, 31 and June 7 (Sundays) and arrive in Chennai Egmore at 11.30am the next day. Train No 06045 is expected to stop at Srirangam around 5am and at Trichy around 5.40 – 5 45 am. Train no 06046 is expected to halt at Trichy junction around 5.45 am and at Srirangam around 6am. The trains will also halt at major stations including Villupuram, Ariyalur, Madurai and Tirunelveli.
The special trains will have AC two-tier, AC three-tier, sleeper class, general second class and Divyangjan-friendly coaches. Advance reservation opened at 8am on Saturday.
