Missing Class 10 girl found dead in a well

Karur: A 15-year-old schoolgirl who had gone missing was found dead in a well at Kalipalayam near Karur on Saturday.The deceased was a daughter of a daily wage worker from Poonthota Kalipalayam inVengamedu police station limits. She was studying Class 10 student in a govt high school and was appearing for her public examinations. According to police sources, she was reprimanded by her parents on March 19 for excessive use of a mobile phone, following which she left home and did not return. Her parents subsequently lodged a missing complaint at the Vengamedu police station on Friday. On Saturday, locals spotted her body floating in an agricultural well near her house.Personnel from the fire services retrieved the body. Police have registered a case and sent the body to Karur Govt Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Further investigation is under way, with initial suspicion pointing towards suicide. Police said the case which was registered as missing has been altered to Section 194 BNSS (suicides, homicides, accidents, or suspicious deaths).
