Minor, father booked for causing pedestrian’s death

Trichy: A 17-year-old boy and his father were booked after the minor rammed his two-wheeler into an elderly man, causing the latter's death.The victim, S Arumugam, 64, from Anna Nagar, Lalgudi was crossing the road near Anna Nagar bus stop on the Lalgudi–Sengaraiyur Road around 2pm on May 9 when the incident occurred.According to police, the boy from a village near Lalgudi, rode a bike in a rash and negligent manner and hit Arumugam. He sustained severe head injuries and was declared dead on way to the hospital.The victim's daughter, Meena, 18, filed a complaint. A case was registered on Sunday under sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash driving and causing death by negligence.The juvenile is currently undergoing treatment at govt hospital, Trichy. Arumugam's body was handed over to his family members after postmortem.
