Man gets life term for raping minor relative

T'puram: Attingal fast track court on Friday sentenced a middle-aged man who sexually assaulted his minor relative, a Class X student, to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 8 lakh.In default of payment of the fine, the convict will have to undergo an additional four years of imprisonment.According to the prosecution, the incident occurred in 2022. The accused allegedly lured the survivor to his house by making her believe that his wife and children were present there. He later sexually assaulted the girl, following which she became pregnant.Kazhakoottam police registered a case and conducted a probe led by inspector J S Praveen, who later filed the chargesheet before the court.Special public prosecutor U Salimsha and advocate Neelima R Krishnan appeared for the prosecution.
