Gumla: A villager and a buffalo were electrocuted after they came in contact with an 11,000-volt live current near Lawagain village in Gumla on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Sanicharwa Oraon (55).
Locals said that the wire was hanging from a pole. As a grazing buffalo reached there, it came in contact with an earthing wire, which accidentally touched the high-tension wire, and it died. Oraon too came in contact with the wire and met the same fate.
Redwa panchayat mukhiya Subhani Devi said, "The man went on to remove the wire from the body of the animal, when he came in contact with the high-voltage current." Officer in-charge of Sisai police station, Santosh Kumar Singh said, "It seems an 11,000-volt hanging wire touched the earthing wire, and the deceased might have been trying to save the animal."
