Caitlin Clark was seen cheering for her team from the sidelines while the Indiana Fever took on the Minnesota Lynx. Though the Fever ended the game in a stupendous 83-72 win, it was the first quarter that kept the winning side on its toes. In response to a timeout called out by the Lynx’s side, Caitlin clapped back at the Lynx with a taunting ‘timeout’ gesture. The moment reminded fans of the ongoing feud between Clark and Lunx’s coach, Cheryl Reeves, who once snubbed Clark from the 2024 Paris Olympics squad.
Caitlin Clark claps back at coach Cheryl Reeve with taunting ‘timeout’ gesture
Another instalment of the growing feud between Caitlin Clark and coach Cheryl Reeve was served during the Fever-Lynx clash on Tuesday night. When the Minnesota Lynx’s coach, Reeve, and the team called ‘timeout’ at a beneficial point in the first quarter of the game, Clark could not keep her emotions on hold. Though cheering her team from the sidelines, she clapped back at Reeve with a ‘timeout’ gesture to express her frustration.
Clark’s feud with Reeve became a talking point when Reeve did not include her in the Paris Olympics 2024 squad, much against her expectations. Since then, Clark has left no opportunity to show her protest against the coach.
Caitlin Clark earlier mockingly suggested ‘trading coaches’ targeting Cheryl Reeve
Earlier, Caitlin Clark was selected as one of the captains for the All-Star game. Interestingly, Cheryl Reeve was assigned as her coach. Taking a dig at the decision, she made some hilarious suggestions while talking to ESPN’s coach, Mallika Andrews. Caitlin was asked if she wanted to trade any player. To this, she made an odd suggestion, saying:
“I love my team. I don't have any intention of trading any of them.
I don't know if this is in the rules - and I don't really care - but we've already discussed that we're going to trade coaches.
Phee [Napheesa] is going to take her coach [Cheryl Reeve]. Sandy Brondello, let's get it! Sorry, ESPN, if it's not in the rules, but we just made it a rule.”
The suggestion highlighted her dislike of Reeve, who was the person behind Caitlin’s absence from the 2024 Paris Olympics squad. Caitlin has not forgot that snub to date and continues to take a dig at the coach on every possible opportunity.
Indiana Fever wrapped up the regular season with an 83-72 win over the league-leaders Lynx. While Caitlin sat out due to a groin injury from the Fever’s side, Napheesa Collier missed playing for the Lynx. She was replaced by Jessica Shepherd, who scored 16 points for the Lynx.
