State presents sealed report on rape, murder of minor girl in HC

Ranchi: The state govt on Friday presented before the Jharkhand high court a sealed report of the investigation pertaining to the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl from Hazaribag.A court of Justices Sujit Narayan Prasad and Sanjay Prasad was hearing a public interest litigation initiated suo moto on reports of the death of the girl reported in local dailies on March 29.The investigation done by the police with the test run on the clothes of the deceased and materials recovered from the crime scene along with the report of the forensic laboratory was presented before the court. The bench, after going through the report, has fixed May 11 for a detailed hearing of the matter.Advocate Hemant Kumar Shikarwar had highlighted the matter in court and informed the bench that the mother of the victim, who is a daily wager in a brick kiln, is being threatened to tamper with the evidence in the case.The HC took serious note of the matter and directed the Hazaribag SP to immediately monitor the investigation of the case.The police have arrested the mother of the deceased, and four others in the case.
