Severe storm leaves Hazaribag without power for 24 hours
Hazaribag: Life in Hazaribag was paralysed after a severe storm on Monday evening uprooted more than 100 trees in and around the town which damaged power lines causing a blackout for nearly 24 hours.Executive engineer of JBVNL Hazaribag Division, Subroto Banerjee, said restoration work was difficult in many parts. He said wiremen worked through the night with limited strength to detect faults and remove tree branches from power lines.The blackout disrupted water supply on Tuesday, leaving residents struggling to obtain water since morning. Households with boring facilities could not fill overhead tanks due to the outage.A big tree fell in Pipcho village near Daru, blocking NH-522, linking Hazaribag with Bagodar, Bishnugarh, Dhanbad and Kolkata. Daru police arranged a crane and cleared the road. No casualty was reported.
