Dumka: The Sahibganj police on Wednesday arrested two accused, including a man and a woman, from Sakrugarh under the town police station limits of Sahibganj district. A minor boy and girl were also rescued.
The move followed a tip-off about
human trafficking activities being carried out through a rented house in Sakrugarh, where minor boys and girls were being sent to other states with the promise of lucrative job opportunities.
Sahibganj SP, Amit Kumar Singh, formed a team that conducted a raid at the house of one Ramkishun Paswan in Sakrugarh and arrested Mary Soren and Sanjay Soren, both residents of Dhanela village under the Borio police station area.
Two minor girls belonging to Sahibganj district were rescued during the operation.
During the operation, police recovered Rs 41,070 in cash, four forged Aadhaar cards, four passbooks of different banks, two notebooks containing records of people being sent out, and three mobile phones from her possession.
A case was registered at Nagar police station, and the accused were sent to judicial custody. DSP and nodal officer of the special juvenile police unit, Vijay Kumar Kushwaha, stated that Mary was previously arrested in a human trafficking case.
"She used to transport boys and girls to Delhi, Mumbai, and other metropolitan cities under the pretence of providing them employment," the DSP said, adding that police are now attempting to uncover the entire network involved in this crime.
