Man hacked to death at wedding in Gumla, accused held
Bhopal, Jan 17 (IANS) A teenager was killed when a devastating fire engulfed a modest mud house in Kathautia village in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol district.
Gumla: A 27-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death during a wedding ceremony in Gumla district following an altercation, police said on Friday. The accused was arrested the same day.The incident took place in Lotwa village under Palkot police station limits on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The deceased, identified as Durga Oraon, hailed from Ambatoli, a neighbouring village, and went to attend the wedding.Police said an altercation broke out involving the accused, Ganga Oraon, and some other persons. When Durga intervened, the accused allegedly got enraged, attacked him with an axe and locked him inside a bathroom.On Thursday morning, Durga was taken to CHC Palkot and later referred to Sadar Hospital. From there, he was referred to Rims, but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the institute."We arrested the accused, who confessed to his involvement in the crime and was forwarded to jail on Friday," said Tarun Kumar, officer in-charge of Palkot police station.
