Humayun Kabir’s Cow Slaughter Remarks Trigger Political Row Over Qurbani And Law In West Bengal

AJUP Chief Humayun Kabir has sparked controversy after asserting that ritual animal sacrifice will continue despite state restrictions on slaughter ahead of Eid. He said cow slaughter and qurbani are mandated by religious tradition and will happen at any cost. Kabir accused the administration of interfering in religious practices and restricting centuries old customs. BJP responded saying the issue concerns enforcement of law against illegal slaughterhouses, maintaining that they respect food choices but oppose unlawful cow slaughter practices strictly.

Iran has released purported footage of a downed US MQ-9 Reaper drone amid soaring tensions in the Middle East. Iranian State TV, IRIB, aired visuals allegedly showing wreckage of the multi-million-dollar American surveillance drone shot down by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) over Iranian territory. The footage reportedly shows IRGC personnel inspecting debris recovered in the Persian Gulf. While the video remains unverified and CENTCOM has not confirmed the claim, the incident marks another dangerous escalation in the growing US-Iran confrontation. Tehran also claimed that US RQ-4 drones and even an F-35 stealth fighter briefly entered Iranian airspace before retreating. The latest clash comes after reported US strikes on IRGC vessels and Iranian missile launchers near the Strait of Hormuz.
