Hazaribag: A 21-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping his elder sister in Hazaribag district, police said. The accused, who is unemployed, was apprehended within four hours of the complaint being filed against him, the police said.
The 23-year-old survivor, who is mother to a three-year-old child, stated in her complaint that the accused took advantage of the fact that her husband had gone out of the house on Thursday night.
Police officer Deepak Kumar Singh said that a case under Section 64 of BNS was registered against the accused. "Recognising the gravity of the crime, special teams were deployed who nabbed the perpetrator," Singh stated.
He said the woman had called her younger brother to her house a month ago after the death of their mother. He said that on Thursday night, when her son became ill, her husband went to bring medicines. During this period, the accused raped her.
Singh said the accused fled the village following the incident. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted him. After medical examination, the accused was produced before a local court which sent him to judicial custody. The survivor was sent for medical evaluation and counselling, police said.
