Ranchi: Three armed criminals on Sunday evening clashed with workers and fired in the air at a bridge construction site in Gudgudchuwa village of Khunti district, police said.
No one was injured in the incident.
Sources said that the assailants came to the spot on a bike and fired several rounds. Police have found two empty cartridges at the spot.
The criminals also snatched mobile phones of the workers, but in the face of a joint resistance by the latter, they fled from the spot, leaving behind their bike.
Khunti superintendent of police Rishabha Garg said, "The criminals clashed with the workers at the site. Police are trying to get clues about them. The involvement of the extremist organisation People Liberation Front of India cannot be ruled out.”
It may be noted here that the bridge is being built at a cost of Rs 4 crore from Sundari Pakar toli to Gudgudchua.
