A heartwarming sight was witnessed during the 11th convocation ceremony of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) when Vicky Kumar Netam, a tribal student from Dantewada district, was conferred a PhD degree in the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding.
Dr Vicky Kumar Netam is the 1st student from Dantewada district to hold an agricultural research degree, according to IGKV.
He has also been conferred the Young Scientist Award. Netam had arrived at the convocation ceremony on Friday along with his mother and sister to receive his PhD degree. Upon receiving the doctoral degree, he touched the feet of his mother Malamati Netam and sought her blessings. Netam is currently serving as a guest faculty at Shaheed Gundadhur Krishi Mahavidyalaya evam Anusandhan Kendra, Jagdalpur.
