Traffic relief as CM opens road over Mandiri drain
Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Monday inaugurated the road constructed over the Mandiri drain in Patna, a major infrastructure project expected to provide relief from traffic congestion in the state capital. The road has been named after Naveen Kumar Sinha, father of BJP national president Nitin Nabin.The newly built road will provide commuters with an alternative route connecting Nehru Path to J P Ganga Path, Ashok Rajpath, the double-cecker flyover near Gandhi Maidan and PMCH. Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs115 crore, the project is expected to substantially improve urban connectivity and ease daily commuting. The project was completed under the supervision of Patna Smart City Limited.Deputy CM Bijendra Prasad Yadav, BJP national president and former Bihar minister Nitin Nabin, state president Sanjay Saraogi, ministers Nitish Mishra and Ram Kripal Yadav, MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia and Patna mayor Sita Sahu were present on the occasion.Nabin, who had represented Bankipur as an MLA, thanked CM Samrat Choudhary and former CM Nitish Kumar for fulfilling his father’s dream.Samrat said city residents would now be able to travel directly from the Income-Tax Roundabout to J P Ganga Path.
“This will facilitate easier commuting for city residents traveling to and from PMCH, NMCH, Gai Ghat, Kangan Ghat, Patna Sahib Gurdwara, and Didarganj,” he said.Addressing the gathering, Samrat said the area had long struggled with severe traffic congestion. “This locality is transitioning from a residential zone to a commercial hub. For this, I would like to express my gratitude to Nitin Nabin Ji and his entire team. We must not stop here. Our goal is to transform both ends of Patna into modern, new cities,” Samrat said.The sewage lines of Sichai Bhavan, MLA Flats, Chajjubagh, Eco Park, Dhobi Ghat, Babu Bazar, Gardanibagh and S P Verma Road flow into the Mandiri drain. The 1,289-metre-long box drain-cum-road is expected to directly benefit a large population living in wards 21, 24, 25, 26 and 27.A drainage channel has also been constructed alongside the service road with provision for utility ducts. The project includes two ramps, three desilting chambers for regular cleaning and maintenance, and four sluice gates for effective water drainage management. Modern street lighting has also been installed to improve the road’s appearance and safety.The road project is expected to ensure seamless connectivity for residents of wards 25, 26 and 27, besides benefiting hundreds of thousands of commuters travelling towards north Bihar. It is also expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on Nehru Path.
