Patna: A 50-member youth delegation from Punjab, accompanied by five faculty members from IIT Ropar, will visit Bihar from May 23 to 30 under Phase VI of Yuva Sangam, an initiative of the Union education ministry under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. The programme aims to provide participants first-hand exposure to Bihar’s cultural heritage.
The team will be hosted by IIT Patna (IIT-P), the nodal institution for the state under the initiative. IIT-P director T N Singh said a dedicated team has been formed to ensure smooth execution of the programme.
The itinerary includes visits to key heritage and cultural sites such as Ular Sun Temple, Bharatpura Library, Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, Mangla Gauri Temple and Vishnupad Temple in Gaya, Ghoda Katora Lake and Glass Bridge in Rajgir, Nalanda University (ancient and modern campuses), Pawapuri Jal Mandir, Mithila Haat in Darbhanga, Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University in Samastipur, ICAR-National Research Centre on Litchi in Muzaffarpur, Vishwa Shanti Stupa in Vaishali, Bihar Museum in Patna, Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib and the Loknayak Ganga Path.
To showcase industrial development, the delegation will also visit a biscuit unit and Hero Cycles factory in Bihta, along with metal industries at Parev in Koilwar. The participants are also scheduled to interact with the Bihar governor at Lok Bhavan on May 28.
Singh added that the programme will include exposure to traditional cuisine and visits to villages to provide insights into rural life and local culture.
