BJP leader Pappu Sana assaulted with bamboo sticks in Bengal; critical

KOLKATA: A local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Pappu Sana, was allegedly assaulted by a group of attackers in Narendrapur in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, near Kolkata, police said on Thursday.Pappu Sana has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a state-run hospital in Kolkata.The incident took place around 2 am, when Sana was reportedly attacked with bamboo sticks by multiple assailants. He sustained severe injuries in the assault, sources said.Preliminary inputs suggest that some of the attackers arrived in a car.The exact motive behind the attack is not yet clear.Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those involved.Further details are awaited.
