Fire at Pacific Mall, Ghaziabad
GHAZIABAD: A massive fire broke out in the projector room of the cinema hall at the Pacific Mall in the Kaushambi area of Ghaziabad on Thursday morning. The cause of the fire is unknown, and no casualty has been reported so far.Rahul Pal, chief fire officer (CFO), said that around 7.21am, the fire department received information that a fire occurred at the Pacific Mall. Immediately, five fire tenders were sent to the spot and when we arrived, learnt that fire broke out in the projector room of the cinema hall.“Upon arrival, it was found that a massive fire erupted in the projector room and movie hall of the cinema located inside Pacific Mall, causing smoke to spread throughout the entire mall. Under the direction of the chief fire officer, Ghaziabad, the fire service unit laid eight lines of hose pipes and, using the mall's in-built fire fighting system, personnel wearing BA sets began extinguishing the fire,” he said.“Considering the intensity of the fire, additional vehicles along with their officers-in-charge were also called in from Fire Station Kotwali and Fire Station Sahibabad. After approximately one hour of intense effort and with great presence of mind, the fire unit brought the fire under control and successfully prevented the nearby movie hall (Audi) and other shops from being engulfed by the flames,” CFO said.
“There has been no loss of life in this fire incident. A total of 10 fire tenders, along with the mall's in-built fire fighting system, were used to completely extinguish the fire. Currently, smoke is being cleared from the premises with the help of exhaust systems,” Pal said.“The cause of the fire is still unknown and fire department officials are trying to investigate it. But we are suspecting a short circuit would be the reason behind the incident,” CFO said.
