Patna: Expressing displeasure over the absence of faculty members during working hours, Patliputra University (PPU) vice-chancellor Upendra Prasad Singh issued show-cause notices to a college principal and several teachers found absent during surprise inspections on Friday. They have been directed to explain the reasons for their absence during the inspection and submit their replies by 5 pm on Monday, PPU registrar Abu Bakar said.Continuing his inspection drive for the third consecutive day in constituent colleges under the university, the vice chancellor visited S U College, Hilsa, where four teachers were found absent. He later inspected Rajkiya Degree College, Rajgir, where no staff member was absent. However, during his visit to Ganga Devi Mahila College at Kankarbagh in Patna, he found the principal along with several teachers absent from duty.The vice chancellor also found several classrooms functioning without teachers. He entered classrooms, interacted with students and sought feedback regarding studies, attendance of teachers and other issues, Bakar said.Earlier, the vice chancellor had inspected Nalanda College, where 14 teachers, including the principal-in-charge, were found absent from duty.
