West Champaran admin to roll out initiative for tribal villages from May 18

Bettiah: The West Champaran district administration will launch a special ‘Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan’ from May 18 to 25, targeting remote tribal-dominated areas inhabited by the Tharu and Oraon communities.The campaign will cover 127 scheduled tribe-dominated villages across five blocks — Bagaha II, Gaunaha, Ramnagar, Mainatanr and Yogapatti. Officials said the initiative aims to bring govt services directly to the doorsteps of beneficiaries who often remain excluded due to geographical and administrative barriers.Special mega camps will be organised in identified villages during the campaign period, where residents will be able to apply for certificates, pensions and other welfare schemes on the spot. Health department teams will also conduct free medical check-ups and distribute medicines.Grievance redressal programmes will be held at selected service centres, allowing villagers to present their issues directly to officials for prompt resolution. The campaign is being monitored by deputy development commissioner Kajle Vaibhav Nitin.DM Taranjot Singh said, “The main objective of the Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan is to ensure that no eligible person living in remote tribal areas of the district is deprived of govt schemes. The administration will reach out to villages to resolve people’s problems and provide benefits on the spot. We are committed to making this campaign a success by coordinating with all concerned departments.”The administration has urged residents to contact their Vikas Mitra or block welfare officer for details on camp schedules and to participate in large numbers to avail the benefits.
