PM Modi’s Netherlands Visit: India-Dutch Ties Upgraded To Strategic Partnership

India and the Netherlands have elevated their bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to The Hague, marking a major step forward in cooperation between the two countries. MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George said both sides adopted an ambitious roadmap to guide collaboration across several key sectors. The two nations also welcomed the establishment of a Centre of Excellence on Water under the Ministry of Jal Shakti in collaboration with the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management at IIT Delhi. The initiative aims to strengthen cooperation in water management and sustainable technologies. In another significant development, Tata Electronics and Dutch semiconductor giant ASML signed a partnership agreement supporting the semiconductor fab project in Dholera. MEA described it as ASML’s first such partnership with India and a major boost to India’s semiconductor ecosystem. During the visit, PM Modi also met King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, highlighting India’s reforms and transformational growth over the past decade. The Prime Minister received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora upon arriving in The Hague.
