Buxar: The Ganga has inundated Buxar for the fourth time this season with floodwaters causing widespread disruption in several areas. According to the Central Water Commission, the water level reached 60.36 metres on Thursday — 4cm above the danger mark of 60.32 metres — and continues to rise at a rate of 1cm every four hours.Chausa, Buxar, Simri, Chakki and Brahmapur blocks are the worst affected. Floodwaters have entered homes and submerged agricultural fields, while several rural roads, including the Buxar-Mohania State Highway, are now underwater. This has severely impacted the movement of people and goods in the region.Local farmers have suffered heavy losses as standing crops remain submerged. Many villagers have begun migrating to safer locations. The district administration has intensified relief and rescue efforts to address the growing crisis.District magistrate Vidyanand Singh said the administration is on full alert. “Relief and rescue operations are underway in all affected areas. Additional boats have been deployed to facilitate evacuation if necessary,” he said.He also urged residents to avoid spreading or believing rumours and to strictly follow government advisories. “The flood situation is being continuously monitored, and all necessary steps will be taken in a timely manner,” the DM added.Residents said this year’s floods have severely disrupted their daily lives and agricultural routines. “Many families have been displaced four times due to repeated flooding,” said a local villager.
