Bhagalpur: In line with directives from the
Election Commission of India (ECI), district election officials conducted a thorough inspection of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) warehouse on Thursday, as part of preparations for the upcoming state assembly elections.
Bhagalpur district magistrate and election officer Nawal Kishor Choudhary, accompanied by assistant election officer Sweta Kumari and other officials, led the inspection to ensure smooth and secure conduct of the elections.
Talking to this newspaper, the DM said, “We are taking steps to enhance voter turnout and promote peaceful, inclusive elections. As part of this, we are engaging SVEEP icons at the district level to raise awareness and encourage voter participation.”
The DM further added that applications have been invited from prominent sportspersons, artists, singers, writers, and social activists to serve as SVEEP icons.
“These people will help inspire voters and contribute to setting a record turnout in the district. Interested candidates can submit their applications at the NEP office located within the district rural development agency (DRDA) premises in Bhagalpur,” he added.
