Adani Group plans up to Rs60k cr investment in state over next 4 yrs
Patna: Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani on Sunday announced plans to invest Rs 50,000 crore to Rs 60,000 crore in Bihar over the next three to four years across several sectors, including power, roads, gas distribution, cement and broader infrastructure.
Speaking to reporters after attending a function at the Akhanda Jyoti Eye Hospital at Mastichak in Saran district, Gautam said Bihar has “immense investment potential” and is steadily reclaiming its historic importance. He praised the people of the state for their hard work and said the Bihar govt is pushing growth across sectors.
Gautam said the group was already investing around Rs 27,000 crore in a 2,400MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district. He described it as the largest private sector investment in Bihar’s power sector and said the project would help the state move towards energy self-reliance.
He added discussions are underway with the govt on road projects, while opportunities in broader infrastructure development are also being explored. “Overall, the Adani Group has a target to invest Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 crore in Bihar in the next three to four years,” he said.
The conglomerate is also expanding in urban energy and power distribution. Through Indian Oil Adani Gas Pvt Ltd, city gas distribution networks are being developed in Gaya and Nalanda. At the same time, Adani Energy Solutions Limited is installing nearly 3 million smart meters across north Bihar to modernise the electricity distribution system.
In the cement sector, the group plans to establish two grinding units with capacities of 6 million tonnes per annum each in Nawada and Muzaffarpur. The combined investment for these projects is estimated at around Rs 3,000 crore.
After returning from Masti Chak, Gautam visited Lok Sevak Awas in Patna and paid a courtesy call on chief minister Samrat Choudhary. According to a communication from the Chief Minister’s Office, “During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding investment and major projects in Bihar. Gautam Adani assured all possible assistance in the development of Bihar.”
In a post on X, Samrat said, “Had a courtesy meeting with renowned industrialist and Adani group chairman Gautam Adani Ji. He gave the assurance of all possible help for the development of Bihar.”
