NOIDA: A man died and another was injured after an SUV rammed into an electric pole in Knowledge Park, Greater Noida, on Friday.
The accident was captured on CCTV cameras. Footage accessed by
TOI shows the speeding SUV losing control before crashing into the pole. The impact was so severe that the vehicle spun multiple times before coming to a halt.
Gurudev, a resident of Jattari and nephew of Aligarh BJP president Krishna Pal Singh, was seen stepping out of the damaged vehicle after the crash. The SUV's siren continued blaring for several seconds as residents and passers-by rushed to help.
Police were alerted and reached the spot shortly after. They pulled Shrishabh out from the co-passenger seat and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Gurudev is currently undergoing treatment.
Police have sent Shrishabh's body for autopsy and informed the families of both men.
A senior police officer said an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident using CCTV footage. Prima facie, officials suspect the SUV lost control due to overspeeding before crashing into the pole, though other angles are also being examined.
