Chinna Thambi gold fraud case: Four complaints registered so far
Mysuru: City police commissioner Seema Latkar said that four complaints have so far been registered in connection with an alleged gold pledge fraud involving Soundar Raj alias Chinna Thambi.
Victims have been asked to approach the investigating officer at the CCB office and submit their complaints.
Police said Soundar Raj alias Chinna Thambi, through various gold trading firms, allegedly attracted customers by offering loans against gold at interest rates lower than the market rate and by promising higher prices for gold ornaments. After collecting gold ornaments from customers through purchase and pledge transactions, he allegedly failed to provide the agreed value for the pledged gold and is accused of melting and misusing the ornaments, thereby cheating customers, police said.
A case in this regard has been registered at the Kuvempu Nagar police station. Mysuru police said they have arrested the accused.
The police have appealed to members of the public who may have been cheated after pledging gold with Soundar Raj alias Chinna Thambi to visit the assistant commissioner of police, CCB Unit, Mysuru City, along with all relevant documents for further legal action.
It can be recalled that several victims approached the Mysuru police, Karnataka State Commission for Women, seeking justice. They alleged that their pledged ornaments were misused by the accused.
