Five rounds were fired outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area around 12.45 am on Sunday. Shetty was inside the house at the time, but no injuries were reported, police said.

A forensic team and ballistic experts visited the spot to examine the bullets and firing pattern. Police security was enhanced outside Shetty’s residence after the incident.

Soon after the incident, senior Mumbai Police officers and Crime Branch teams reached the spot. The area was cordoned off as security personnel conducted an extensive sweep.

Preliminary reports indicated bullet marks on one of the glass panels of the building’s balcony. Three bullet holes were allegedly found, suggesting multiple rounds were fired.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti confirmed the firing, stating, “Someone fired on the building. Zonal police and crime branch teams are investigating.”

Police sources said the firing took place between 12.30 am and 1 am. Locals alerted police after hearing gunshot-like sounds in the area, following which teams rushed to the spot.

The residential tower has over 10 CCTV cameras. Crime Branch teams are scanning more than 100 CCTV footages from nearby areas to identify the shooters and trace their escape route.

Heavy police deployment was seen around Shetty’s residential tower in Juhu, one of Mumbai’s most upscale neighbourhoods and home to several Bollywood celebrities.
