NEET re-exam: CM orders spl monitoring at Pune, Latur centres
Mumbai: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday directed special monitoring of examination centres at Pune and Latur for the NEET re-exam to be held on June 21.Latur and Pune have been at the epicentre of the NEET paper leaks, leading to the cancellation of the NEET 2026 exams. At a review meeting of security measures at his official residence, Varsha, Fadnavis directed all agencies to be alert and take necessary measures at the examination centres to ensure that no malpractices occur.Those present for the meeting included additional chief secretary (Home) Manisha Mhaiskar, DGP Sadanand Date, principal secretary, CMO Lokesh Chandra and S Pardeshi, commissioner of state intelligence department Shirish Jain, secretary, medical education department Dheeraj Kumar, commissioner of Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell Dilip Sardesai, additional chief secretary higher and technical education B Venugopal Reddy, among others.Fadnavis directed that CCTV systems at all examination centres be kept operational and monitored, and necessary preventive measures taken in terms of cybersecurity. Screening and identity verification process of candidates is to be strictly implemented at examination centres, social media to be used effectively to spread accurate information regarding the examination to students, parents and citizens. He said if any rumour or misleading information is circulated about the examination process, special care should be taken to ensure no confusion is created among students and parents, said Fadnavis.
National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Abhishek Singh made a presentation on the number of examination centres in Maharashtra , available facilities, security arrangements, and the planning made for the smooth conduct of the examination, said a govt press release.
