Udupi: Byndoor police have arrested a 23-year-old man from Rajasthan and recovered Rs 6 lakh in stolen cash in connection with a house burglary case.
The accused, identified as Mahendra Sain from Jodhpur, was arrested following a special operation carried out by a police team, officials said.
According to police, the theft occurred between 3pm and 10pm on April 23 at a rented house behind SBI Bank in Yadtare village of Byndoor. The house belonged to Rawal Singh, a native of Rajasthan. Taking advantage of the occupants' absence, the accused allegedly broke open the front door lock, entered the house and stole Rs 6 lakh in cash kept in a cupboard.
Based on the complaint, Byndoor police registered a case under sections 331(3), 331(4) and 305 of the BNS.
The investigation was led by Byndoor CI Shivakumar B Police said the accused was staying in a rented house behind a garment shop in Byndoor.
A special team comprising PSI Sunil Kumar BY, Naveen Borakar and other personnel traced and arrested the accused on Thursday and recovered the entire stolen cash from his possession.
