TVK functionaries booked for using kids in campaign

Ramanathapuram: Three TVK functionaries were booked for violation of the model code of conduct by engaging children in their election campaign in Sumaithangi village in Ramanathapuram district on Friday.The Uthirakosamangai police registered the case against three TVK functionaries - Ramanathapuram east district secretary Malarvizhi, joint coordinator of the district technical team Jeyabala and a functionary, Rithik.According to police sources, a team of police officials were patrolling in Sumaithangi village, where TVK functionaries were involved in a campaign for the election. In violation of the election model code of conduct, the party functionaries engaged children in school uniforms with party flags and towels during their door-to-door election campaign.Based on the complaint of the sub-inspector of police, Uthirakosamangai police registered a case against the three TVK functionaries. They were booked for offences under sections of the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and under sections of the BNS.
