Tuticorin: Two policemen were transferred to armed reserve after a 20-year-old history-sheeter escaped from the police station lockup in Tuticorin on Sunday. Police said Tamilarasan of Tuticorin has been booked in at least 11 theft cases and was arrested in connection with a two-wheeler theft case. He was lodged in the Meignanapuram police station. Police said two policemen who were on duty fell asleep without locking the cell. Using this opportunity, Tamilarasan escaped from the station around 7.40am. Subsequently, police registered a case and launched a search for him. District superintendent of police C Madhan, meanwhile, transferred the two policemen on duty during the incident.
