Ludhiana factory set on fire ‘to avenge theft FIR’: Duo charged.
Times News NetworkLudhiana: Two fugitive theft suspects are now charged with burning down a local plastics factory because the owner refused to withdraw a criminal complaint against them. The Sahnewal police charged Jagga and Rang Bahadar under Section 326(G) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for mischief by fire or explosive substance. The factory owner, Abhishek Garg, told police the men had subjected him to threats since May 18, when he filed an initial first-information report (FIR) accusing them of stealing from his Jugiana facility.Garg said the intimidation had escalated on the afternoon of May 22, when a massive fire had torn through the complex, gutting the facility. The suspects, who live near the factory, remain on the run.Assistant sub-inspector Karnail Singh, the investigating officer of this case, confirmed that police had registered an arson case based on the factory owner’s statement but needed more investigation to link the fugitives to the fire scene conclusively.
