Ludhiana: The subregional office of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Ludhiana, conducted a special awareness session on the recently launched Scheme for Promotion of Registration of Employers and Employees (SPREE) 2025 here Thursday.
Ajeet Kumar Singh, assistant director, ESIC Ludhiana, and Suresh Kumar, social security officer, were the special guests at the event. Ajeet informed the participants about the scheme, which commenced on July 1, 2025, and will remain in force until Dec 31 this year. Under this initiative, if employers register their establishments and employees online through the ESIC portal, Shram Suvidha portal, or MCA portal, the registration will be deemed valid from the date declared by the employer.
A key feature of this scheme is that no inspection will be carried out and no past records will be demanded for the period prior to registration. By removing the fear of retrospective penalties and simplifying the registration process, the scheme aims to encourage voluntary compliance.
The primary objective of SPREE 2025 is to bring unregistered establishments and workers under the umbrella of ESIC's social security benefits, thereby extending healthcare and insurance coverage to a wider workforce. tnn
