JALAUN: A young couple allegedly died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place in Biria Khurd village under the Jalaun Kotwali police station area. The deceased were identified as Vivek (22) and his wife Sadhna (21), according to news agency PTI. According to police, the couple allegedly took the extreme step on Monday night. The reason behind the incident is yet to be determined. Circle Officer (CO) Shailendra Kumar Bajpai said police received information about the deaths around 10pm on Monday. After receiving the alert, a police team led by Inspector-in-Charge Harishankar Chandra reached the house and found the couple hanging from the hook of a ceiling fan inside their room."The bodies have been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination. We are investigating the cause behind the suicides, and further legal action will be taken based on the evidence collected," CO Bajpai said. Inspector Harishankar Chandra said the couple is survived by their six-month-old daughter. Police are questioning family members to find out whether any domestic dispute or financial stress may have led to the incident.
