Kochi: Two people were killed in separate road accidents on Monday.
A 22-year-old Ishana Ismath from Kasaragod, was killed in an accident near Athani in Nedumbassery police station premises around 4am.
The accident occurred near a petrol pump along Athani-Airport VIP Road. The woman was riding pillion on a two-wheeler. According to police, a car rammed the two-wheeler from behind.
Ismath was rushed to a private hospital in Angamaly, where she succumbed to injuries. The man riding the two-wheeler also sustained injuries, including a fracture to his right hand.
Nedumbassery police registered an FIR and began an investigation.
Meanwhile, a 58-year-old man was killed in a road accident on Monday morning. A truck knocked down his scooter near Choorakkad Junction at 6am.
The deceased was identified as Dineshan, 58, of Udayamperoor.
According to police, the scooter he was riding was hit by a truck heading to Irinjalakuda from Kottayam, near the Udupi Hotel. Dineshan, who was seriously injured, was rushed to Tripunithura Taluk Hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
Dineshan was returning after dropping his son off at the railway station.
