In the district, girls outperformed boys in district-level results. Of 15,715 boys who appeared for examination, 15,649 passed. Among 14,863 girls who wrote the examination, 14,809 were declared successful. A total of 2,203 students secured A+ grades in all subjects, including 1,553 girls and 650 boys. Annimma V O, headmistress of Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, said the statewide decline in full A+ scores affected the school as well, especially due to lower-than-expected marks in mathematics.
"Among the students who appeared for the examination, only one student was not eligible for higher studies, while 10 students secured A+ in all subjects," she said. She added that the revised curriculum and changes in the examination pattern presented a new experience for both teachers and students, which may have contributed to the reduction in top grades across the state. A teacher from Govt Higher Secondary School, Edappally, also observed that many students received comparatively lower grades in mathematics.
