Kochi: Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) chairman K Chandran Pillai has announced his resignation, in the wake of change in govt.
Pillai, national secretary of CITU, national trade union federation affiliated with CPM, highlighted Bodhi Urban Development Conclave as a definitive turning point.
"The national event reshaped GCDA's philosophy, shifting focus from mere brick-and-mortar construction to a holistic model integrating transport, environment, water conservation and waste management," he said.
His administration prioritized people-friendly public spaces, including rejuvenation of Rajendra Maidan and Changampuzha Park, alongside developing nine distinct public spaces across nine municipalities. The authority also executed crucial community-centric projects, such as Kaloor Market renovation, Food Street initiative and She Hostels aimed at providing safe accommodation for women. tnn
