Woman killed for opposing hubby’s affair
Kanpur: A man strangled his wife at Babukhedha Magarayar village in Unnao late on Sunday night after she opposed his extramarital affair.Later, family members of the deceased gheraoed the house of the man’s girlfriend. However, police reached the spot and took the woman into custody. The accused was also arrested from near the village.According to reports, Gangadin Lodhi, a resident of Babukhedha Magarayar village in the Kotwali area, was having an affair with a married woman whose husband lives in Mumbai. She was residing here along with her two children. Gangadin’s wife Aarti ( 40) had no children. When she came to know about her husband’s affair, she started opposing it. On Sunday night, a dispute broke out between the two, following which Gangadin strangled Aarti.On Monday morning, when the door of the house remained shut and no one came out neighbours went inside to check and found the woman lying dead. The neighbours informed the deceased’s maternal family in Jagat Kheda under Bihar police station area. The maternal family arrived at the village and besieged the house of the accused’s girlfriend.
Circle officer Madhupnath Mishra along with Kotwali police arrived at the spot, took the woman into custody and also arrested the accused. The deceased’s father Kandhai accused the man, his sister and the girlfriend of committing the murder, alleging that the husband was angry as the victim was unable to conceive.
