Stray dogs attack 9-yr-old boy in park
Kanpur: Stray dogs attacked a 9-year-old boy in a park in Barra Vishwabank D-block on Sunday, leaving him with 25 wounds.Eyewitnesses said the dogs chased the child and bit him. Nearby residents rushed in, chased away the dogs and took him to a hospital.The boy was identified as Ansh, son of Manoj Kumar, a resident of Madaiya. Doctors stated that the child sustained a total of 25 wounds on his body.Local representatives including area corporator Arpit Yadav reached the spot and alerted municipal corporation officials. Subsequently, a cattle catching squad arrived and, with the help of local residents, caught the stray dogs. The corporator said that some residents living around Madaiya keep dogs, which often turn aggressive. He also said that dogs are released back into the area after being taken to the animal birth control centre.Yadav said, "Whenever the municipal corporation team goes to catch dogs, dog lovers oppose it and start fighting. Today, when a dog bit a child, I reached the spot. Along with helping the child, I called the municipal corporation team to the spot despite it being a Sunday and got four aggressive dogs caught.”The chief veterinary officer said that a dog bit the child and that four dogs have been caught. The dogs have been sent to the ABC centre where they will be sterilised. He added that a continuous drive will be conducted to catch stray dogs to prevent such incidents from recurring.
