Kanpur: The Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will host a high-level industry consultation at the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) on Friday. The event is being seen as a major step towards building a globally competitive aerospace skills ecosystem in India.
More than 30 senior industry leaders, CEOs and policy experts are expected to participate in the consultation, which will focus on the establishment of a National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) for Aeronautics and Allied Sectors — a first-of-its-kind institution in the country.
The proposed NCoE at NSTI Kanpur is being developed under Component-II of the PM-SETU Scheme, the govt of India’s flagship initiative aimed at transforming Industrial Training Institutes into modern, sector-specific centres of vocational excellence.
Discussions during the programme will centre on the proposed NCoE framework, the role of a Lead Industry Partner (LIP), co-investment models, curriculum co-development, instructor training pathways and international recognition of qualifications to improve global employability of trainees.
