20-year-old hangs self after losing money in gambling
Kanpur: A 20-year-old man reportedly died by suicide late Saturday in the Sen Paschim Para police station area of Kanpur due to mounting debts and losses incurred in gambling.According to police, the deceased was found hanging on Sunday morning by his elder brother.The family informed that the he was addicted to gambling, and borrowed money from several friends, but lost approximately Rs 1 lakh. They further said that the creditors continuously demanded money because of which he was under stress.On Saturday, they said that he refused to eat, and locked the room from inside. On Sunday morning, he was found hanging.Station in-charge of Sen Paschim Para, Pradeep Kumar Singh, said that family members have provided information about the young man being under stress over losing money in gambling and over borrowed money. Action will be taken upon receiving a written complaint.
