Kanpur: A speeding loader collided head-on with an auto on the Kanpur-Rasulabad route in Kanpur Dehat late Saturday evening, leaving two dead and eight auto passengers seriously injured.
Police, alerted by passersby, admitted the injured to CHC Rasulabad, where a doctor declared a father and daughter dead. Five critically injured were referred to Akbarbur Medical College after initial treatment.

Sonam (35), who lost her husband and daughter in the accident, a speeding loader coming from Kanpur direction hit the auto head-on, nearly 100 metres away from a guest house near Kahinjari electricity sub-station.
Upon receiving information about the incident, tehsildar Santosh Kumar Singh, Naib tehsildar, Shivdarshan Singh, CO Alok Kumar, and the station house officer reached CHC and inquired about the condition of the injured.
Station house officer, S.N. Singh said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and the loader and the auto have been taken into custody.
He added that the loader driver has also been detained and is being questioned, while the injured auto driver is receiving treatment at a private hospital.
"An FIR will be registered and action taken upon a written complaint," Singh said.
