2 boys on bike killed in Ghatampur hit-and-run

Kanpur: Two youths were killed in a hit-and-run after an unidentified vehicle hit their motorcycle on Jahanabad Road in Ghatampur area late Tuesday night.Police said after being hit, the bike got trapped under the vehicle and was dragged along, with the two boys sustaining critical injuries who later died on the spot.The vehicle responsible for the accident fled the scene.The deceased were identified as Sumit(24), a resident of Kalana village in Fatehpur district, and his fellow villager Himanshu Sonkar (25).Police said Sumit had gone late at night to drop his sister Priyanka at Kanpur Railway Station for her journey to Delhi, and was returning home with Himanshu when the accident took place near the Paras turn in the Ghatampur police station area.Police reached the spot after being informed by passersby, notified the family members and sent both bodies for post-mortem.Station in-charge, Manoj Singh Bhadauria, said further action will be taken on the basis of the written complaint.
