Alwar: The Alwar administration launched a plantation campaign Friday on
World Environment Day at the Sashastra Suraksha Bal Recruit Training Centre in Maujpur village. Collector Artika Shukla, DFO Rajendra Hudda and SSB DIG Sanjeev Yadav kicked off the campaign by planting trees at the centre.
Officials said around 20,000 trees were already planted at the SSB training centre. As part of a district-wide drive, the district administration and the forest department planted about 5 lakh saplings Friday. Under this year’s campaign, the SSB centre alone will plant 1 lakh trees.
Plantations are being watered through drip method using plastic waste bottles. The arrangement is aimed at ensuring saplings do not dry up during intense heat. Moreover, waste water is also being recycled and provided to the plants.
During the event, collector Shukla said villagers, institutions and NGOs are being connected in colonies in cities and towns and villages to boost plantation across the district.
