MBBS student found hanging in SMS hostel

Jaipur: A 22-year-old MBBS student was found hanging at the New R D Hostel of Sawai Man Singh Medical College early Saturday morning, police said. The deceased has been identified as Nitin Yadav, 22, a final-year medical student and resident of Alwar.

Police said Yadav lived in a rented flat near Nayla House with four friends and was scheduled to appear for his forensic medicine examination Saturday.

He reportedly went to study with friends at the S K Menon Hostel Friday night. Police said he left the hostel around 2am after telling his friends that he was returning to his flat. CCTV footage, however, showed him entering the New RD Hostel around 45 minutes later.

Reports said he was seen on the seventh floor of the hostel and remained visible on CCTV footage until nearly 3.15am. There were no CCTV cameras installed on the eighth floor, where a security guard found him hanging in the morning.

Police reached the spot soon after and brought down the body in the presence of a forensic team. No suicide note was recovered and a smartphone and laptop found on the scene have been sent for examination.

Police have so far not established the motive behind the incident. Further investigations remain underway.
