Indore: A furniture businessman travelling from Mumbai to Indore reported theft of valuable items, including a Rado watch, from his checked-in baggage.Aerodrome police station has registered an FIR and initiated investigation into the security breach. The complainant, Himanshu Gupta, a resident of Shrinath Residency, travelled from Mumbai to Indore on Saturday via Air India flight AI2591. Gupta checked in two bags at the counter at 4 am for a 7:25 am flight that arrived in Indore by 9 am.“On retrieving my luggage from baggage belt number 2 at Indore airport, I found that the lock of my big suitcase was broken and the chain open. A Rado watch, bottle of perfume and two leather belts were missing from the suitcase,” Gupta said.He alleged that ground staff and security personnel told him there was no provision for filing a complaint on-site.Following the incident, Gupta sent an email to Air India and posted about the ordeal on social media. To this, the airline requested a ‘pilferage report’ via email—a document Gupta claims he was denied at the spot.“We have requested detailed information from the airline staff and are reviewing the chain of custody of the baggage from Mumbai to Indore,” Additional DCP Amrendra Singh said, adding that Aerodrome police have registered a theft case.
