Indore: Extensive traffic diversions are in place on national highway 52 (Agra-Bombay Road) for Thursday, in response to planned farmer protests led by the
Congress party.
The demonstrations, centered in the Khalghat area of Khargone and Pigdamber in Indore rural, aim to address grievances regarding wheat procurement issues and administrative policies.
Indore (rural) traffic police have restricted movement near Pigdamber under Kishanganj police station limits.
As per the plan, four-wheelers traveling from Manpur toward Indore or Dewas will be diverted near Prince Dhaba towards Pithampur, eventually reaching Rau Circle via Bhainslay. Conversely, vehicles from Dewas and Indore must travel through Rau Circle towards Pithampur.
Mhow to Indore traffic will be diverted from Maheshwari T towards Dhar Naka and Pithampur.
Heavy vehicles including trucks traveling from Manpur to Dewas are advised to use Lebad-Badnawar-Ujjain route. Vehicles heading from Dewas to Maharashtra must travel via Ujjain and Lebad towards Maheshwar and Kasrawad.
Traffic will be prohibited between Khalghat and Dhamnod starting Thursday morning.
Heavy vehicles travelling from Indore to Maharashtra will be diverted at Dhamnod bypass toward Maheshwar, Mandleshwar, and Kasrawad.
Light four-wheelers will follow a similar diversion from Kakarda.
Vehicles travelling from Maharashtra to Indore via Sendhwa will cross the Khaltaka (Maral Fata) Narmada bridge and turn left toward Dharampuri, passing through Gujri and Manpur to reach Indore. Heavy vehicles travelling from Khargone to Indore are diverted via Julwania and Dhar. Cars and buses may travel through Kasrawad and Jam Gate or via Barwaha.
Congress has alleged that farmers are facing economic losses due to technical failures at procurement centers, increased transport costs and inadequate prices for their produce.
